Key Features & Advantages
Compatibility & Selection Guide
Compatible with DIN 8187 03B-1 roller chain (pitch 5.000 mm, inner width 3.18 mm, roller Φ 3.2 mm). Bore range: standard hub or custom finished bore upon request. Suitable shaft diameters: typically 6–25 mm depending on tooth count and hub style.
Selection by load: Use simplex (03B-1) for light duty; upgrade to duplex (03B-2) when torque exceeds single-strand capacity. Selection by speed: For high-speed drives (>2000 rpm) prefer Z≥17 to reduce chordal action. Contact our engineers for free selection support.
Material & Manufacturing
Material: 1045 carbon steel (C45). Heat treatment: Tooth-profile induction hardening — case depth 1.5–3 mm, HRC 50–60 surface. Core remains tough (HRC 28–35) to absorb shock loads. Surface finish: Black oxidising (standard), zinc plating or geomet coating (corrosion-resistant option). Dimensional deformation: ≤0.05 mm post-heat-treatment, maintained by CNC straightening fixture.

FAQ
Installation Guide
- Inspect shaft and bore for burrs; clean and de-grease contact surfaces.
- Slide sprocket onto shaft and align with the mating sprocket using a straightedge across the tooth faces — misalignment should be less than 1 mm per 300 mm of centre distance.
- Secure with keyway and set screw or taper bush per the torque specification (refer to hub marking).
- Install 03B-1 roller chain and adjust tension: sag on the slack strand should be approximately 2% of the centre distance.
- Verify chain engages smoothly at slow speed before full-load operation.
Maintenance
Lubrication: Apply chain lubricant every 200 operating hours or monthly (whichever is sooner) for standard environments. Food-grade NSF H1 lubricant recommended for food applications. Wear inspection: Replace sprocket when tooth-flank wear exceeds 0.3 mm or when the chain skips under normal load. Chain elongation: Replace chain when elongation exceeds 2% of nominal pitch length — worn chain accelerates sprocket wear dramatically.
