Split Taper Bushing ANSI #80 Sprocket

The Split Taper Bushing ANSI #80 sprocket (pitch 1″, 25.400 mm) features a split-flange taper bushing interface for the fastest possible sprocket installation and removal — including single-strand, double-strand, and triple-strand configurations. Accepted bushing sizes span G, H, P, Q, and more, accommodating bore ranges from 1/2" to 4-5/8", making it the definitive heavy-industrial quick-change sprocket solution for Australian plant maintenance teams.

Key Features

Split-Taper Rapid Release The split-flange QD bushing allows sprocket removal with just a few bolt turns — no hammering, no pullers, no shaft damage. Average changeover time: 15–30 minutes per sprocket.
Heavy-Load Bushing Range Bushing sizes G through Q accommodate bore ranges from 1/2″ to 4-5/8″, covering virtually every shaft size encountered in #80 chain drives from light to heavy industrial.
Single, Duplex & Triplex Available in single-strand, double-strand, and triple-strand versions — all using the same bushing interface for parts standardisation across your drive portfolio.
Production-Line Ready Standardising on split-taper sprockets across a production facility allows any sprocket to be changed with a single set of spanners — no specialist tools or machining equipment required.

Compatibility

Compatible with ANSI #80 roller chain (single, duplex, or triplex) and standard QD split-taper bushings. Select bushing size based on required shaft bore — specify bush type and bore diameter at order. Request a split-taper bushing selection guide.

FAQ

►  What is the difference between a QD bushing and a split-taper bushing?
QD (Quick Detachable) is a trade name for the same split-taper bushing principle — a split-flange bushing that self-releases when removal bolts are tightened into the release holes. Both terms describe functionally identical components.
►  Do I need to order the bushing separately?
Yes. The sprocket and bushing are supplied as separate line items. Specify your shaft diameter, and we will recommend the correct bushing type and part number.
►  What tooth counts are available?
Split-taper sprockets typically range from 15T to 80T depending on ANSI size and bushing type. Non-standard tooth counts are available on request with 10–14 day lead time.
►  Can the same bushing be reused when the sprocket is replaced?
Yes. QD/split-taper bushings are designed to be removed and reused. Replace the bushing only if it shows signs of wear, corrosion, or distortion in the taper bore or split faces.
►  Are duplex and triplex versions available in all tooth counts?
Major tooth counts for duplex (2) and triplex (3) are available. Contact us to confirm availability for your specific requirement.
  1. Clean shaft, bore, and taper surfaces thoroughly — oil contamination prevents proper taper seating.
  2. Insert split-taper bushing into the sprocket hub; align key.
  3. Slide assembly onto shaft to the required axial position.
  4. Alternately tighten the drive bolts in small increments, drawing the taper evenly into the hub bore — torque to the bushing specification.
  5. To remove: thread jack bolts into the release holes and tighten evenly until the bushing pops free — do not use a hammer or puller.
