How to Choose the Right Wheel Sprocket
Not sure which category or specification is right for your application? Use our three-step selection framework — or ask our engineers directly for a free recommendation.
1. Select by Chain Standard
Match your sprocket to the chain already installed or specified for your machine. The chain standard determines the tooth profile and pitch.
- ANSI chain (North American machinery) → ANSI #25–#240 sprockets
- ISO / DIN chain (European machinery) → ISO 03B–32B sprockets
- Double-pitch conveyor chain → C2040–C2082 series
- Corrosive / washdown environment → SS304 stainless sprockets
- Unknown — provide chain dimensions and we will identify the standard
2. Select by Application & Load
The operating environment and load profile determine the hub type, tooth hardness, and material required.
- Light / moderate cyclic load → Standard Type A / B sprocket
- Frequent maintenance access → Taper-bushed (QD / TB) sprocket
- Very heavy shock load → Split taper bushing or Type C double hub
- Food processing or marine → SS304 stainless steel sprocket
- Motor-to-shaft connection → Coupling sprocket set
3. Specify Tooth Count & Bore
Once you have selected the chain standard and type, specify the parameters required for your drive ratio and shaft size.
- Drive ratio → determines relative tooth counts (driver vs driven)
- Shaft diameter and keyway → required for finished bore orders
- Hub style (A / B / C) → based on available shaft length
- Single / duplex / triplex → based on power transmission requirements
- Special requirements → contact us for non-standard specifications
Quick Comparison: Which Sprocket Type Do I Need?
| Category | Best For | Key Feature | Standard |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard (A/B/C) | General industrial drives, keyed shaft mounting | Three hub styles, stock or finished bore | ANSI / ISO |
| ANSI #25–#240 | North American standard machinery, agricultural equipment | Widest pitch range, ex-stock availability | ANSI B29.1 |
| ISO 03B–32B | Imported European machinery, DIN-standard drives | Metric pitch, DIN 8187 compliance | ISO 606 / DIN 8187 |
| Taper-Bushed | Frequent removal, seasonal maintenance, production lines | Rapid fit & release, no shaft damage | ANSI / ISO |
| Double-Pitch | Long-centre conveyor and accumulation drives | Fewer joints per metre, lower system cost | ANSI / NK Series |
| Stainless SS304 | Food processing, pharmaceutical, marine, washdown | FDA-compliant, corrosion immune, CIP-safe | ISO / ANSI |
| Idler & Tensioner | Chain sag correction, wrap-angle increase | Pre-fitted sealed bearing, free-running | ISO / ANSI |
| Coupling | Motor-to-pump, motor-to-gearbox shaft coupling | Shock absorption, misalignment tolerance | NK Asian Standard |
| Custom / OEM | Non-standard tooth count, bore, or geometry | Any specification, 5-day prototype | Any standard or custom |
Every Sprocket Built to Last
We manufacture every sprocket in our product range in-house — from raw material to finished, inspected, and packaged product. Our CNC gear-hobbing machines deliver DIN Grade 6 tooth accuracy, while our induction hardening line consistently achieves HRC 50–60 on tooth flanks with thermal deformation controlled to ≤0.05 mm.
Every production batch is inspected on our CMM coordinate-measuring machines, spectrometer, and hardness-testing equipment before delivery. Quality documentation including dimensional inspection reports and material certificates is available on request for every order. Learn more about our manufacturing capability →
Our engineering team can source or manufacture virtually any wheel sprocket specification. Send us your chain number, tooth count, bore dimensions, or a drawing — and we will provide pricing and full technical support for your requirement.
